Yididiya Damtew is the founder of Nishan Collective, a curatorial and cultural business development hub established to advance African creativity through exhibitions, collaborations and ethical sourcing frameworks. “Nishan” means symbol, mark and award. Traditionally, Nishan is a gesture of recognition, engraved in metal or woven into symbols to honor those who shape society through diplomacy, culture and action. This meaning reflects the Collective’s mission to elevate culture-led industries rooted in heritage, intention and craftsmanship through curation and strategic global linkage platforms.

Nishan Collective’s inaugural collection examines Ethiopia’s gemstone sector, drawing on Ethiopian cultural references and Italian craft traditions to create a dialogue between regions.
